Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have a multimeter at hand. Is there another way to check the glow plugs? The error code is related to engine combustion, or maybe even engine misfire.

Without a multimeter, it's tough to pinpoint the exact glow plug that's failing. An error related to combustion or misfire is a strong indicator that the engine isn't getting the necessary heat for optimal combustion, especially during cold starts, making the glow plugs the primary suspect. Given the mileage and the symptoms, it's a pretty safe bet one or more are kaput. Considering your experience, I'd advise visiting a workshop.

Thanks for the help! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. You were spot on – glow plugs were the problem. Repair cost was about 440€. Now it's starting smoothly again!

Hey there. The symptoms you described definitely point towards a glow plug issue. Modern diesels, especially in colder climates, rely on those glow plugs for a clean start. The continuous illumination of the preheating lamp pretty much confirms a fault. You could try testing the glow plugs with a multimeter to check their resistance. A significant deviation from the standard value indicates a defective glow plug. Be careful though, working with electrical components can be tricky. Which error code is stored in the memory?
