XC70 diesel injection issue

My 2006 Volvo XC70 diesel is showing some worrying signs. Fuel consumption is up, engine power feels reduced, and it sometimes stalls when idling. Plus, there's smoke when I accelerate. Mileage is 102873 km. Suspect it could be the injection system. Anyone experienced similar?

Oh dear, that sounds concerning! I had similar symptoms with my old Peugeot – though it was a petrol engine, not diesel. It turned out to be a faulty connection in the injection system's wiring. How confident are you that it is the injection system and not something else?

Thanks for the reply. I suspected the injection system because a mechanic mentioned it could be a possibility based on the symptoms. Could you elaborate on the 'faulty connection' you mentioned? Where exactly was the problem?

Certainly! On my Peugeot, the cable or plug connection of the component was defective. It was causing intermittent signals and messing with the fuel mixture. It's worth having someone check the connections in your Volvo's injection system. Given the symptoms, it might be best to get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks. I had a mechanic check it out. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable. The repair cost 95€. Appreciate the advice!
