XC70 Engine Starting Problem

My 2014 Volvo XC70 gasoline engine with 179193 km won't start, and I suspect it's voltage-related. This model is known to be sensitive to voltage drops. Any ideas what could cause this?

I had a similar experience with my XC70. Check engine light, engine fault messages, the works. It turned out to be a loose ground connection. The computer is so sensitive to voltage fluctuations that even slight corrosion can cause havoc. Have you checked all grounding points, not just the battery terminals?

Thanks, I'll check the grounding points. Could you say which specific grounding points were problematic for you? That would really help.

Chasing every ground point is tough. But I remember one specific ground being corroded: the ground connection from the engine block to the chassis. If that's good, bring it to a shop with engine diagnostics tools. These systems are complex, and it's easy to waste money replacing parts without fixing the real problem.

You were right – it was a bad connection at the battery! The shop fixed it for 155€ after diagnostics. Thanks for the advice to double-check the connections!
