XC70 exhaust flap noise

My 2011 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine roars like crazy after a cold start at 94658 km. The error memory says it's the exhaust flaps, and the exhaust is way louder. Think it's a bad exhaust flap? Anyone else had this issue, maybe with exhaust blockage or a faulty flap actuator?

I've heard of similar things. Maybe the flap actuator is sticking. Have you looked at the flaps? They might be full of carbon, stopping them from moving.

Good point. I haven't checked them yet. Could cleaning fix it, or am I looking at replacing the actuator or the whole exhaust flap?

Cleaning might help for a bit, but the error code sounds like more. Cleaning probably won't fix a bad actuator for good. To be safe, get it checked out by a pro to know for sure. A workshop visit is a good idea.
