XC70 Key Fob Battery Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Volvo XC70 owner experienced a 'key battery low' warning, with keyless entry failing and an error code present. The issue was suspected to be the key fob battery. Testing with a spare key confirmed the problem, as the spare worked without issues. Replacing the battery in the original key fob resolved the problem, restoring normal function.

Good shout! I totally blanked on the spare. Just gave it a whirl, and yep, the spare works perfectly. So, almost definitely the battery, yeah? Anything else it could be, or am I safe just swapping the cell?

Okay, if the spare's working fine, it's almost certainly the battery in the other key fob. It's a super common issue, and the fact that you're getting the low battery warning seals the deal. I'd still recommend going to the workshop, they can replace the battery and check if the key is still working.

Cheers for the confirmation! I figured it was the battery, but wanted to double-check I wasn't missing something obvious before cracking it open. Popped in a new battery, and everything's back to normal. Cost me 37€! Thanks again for the help!

Sounds familiar! I've got an XC70 too, and had almost identical symptoms a while back. Before you dive into replacing the battery, have you tried the spare key? Does that one work as expected?
