Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the ignition coils yet, but that's a good point. How would I go about checking those? And no, I haven't noticed any specific patterns with the weather or engine temperature.

Given the absence of specific environmental triggers, a systematic check is advised. Considering your description and the vehicle's age, the most prudent course of action would be to visit a reputable workshop with diagnostic capabilities. Modern vehicles possess intricate electronic management systems, and a professional diagnosis will yield the most accurate result. It is probable that a defective ignition coil is the root cause, stemming from a deficient cable or plug connection. This may require specialized equipment for accurate identification.

Thanks so much for your advice! I took it to a workshop as you suggested, and it turned out to be a defective ignition coil. The cable connection was indeed the problem, just like you said. Cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Runs like a charm now!

Regarding your 2006 Volvo XC70, the symptoms you describe – rough running, stalling, check engine light, and jerking – point towards a potential ignition system issue. Given the relatively low mileage, it is less likely to be general engine wear. Could you check the ignition coils? A defective cable or plug connection might be the cause. Have you observed any specific patterns, such as the problem occurring more frequently in wet weather or when the engine is cold?
