XC70 Transmission Problems

My 2012 Volvo XC70 with a gasoline engine is having major transmission issues. Only 31831 km on the clock! The paddle shifters are completely unresponsive, the gearbox slips and shifts terribly, and there's this awful grinding noise sometimes. Now it's stuck in emergency mode, and the error memory is full of transmission errors. Could this be a defective transmission control unit? Is my car doomed?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my XC70. Were you getting slow responses from the paddle shifters before everything went south? Mine was doing that before it completely gave up the ghost. Maybe the car computer is the culprit?

Slow response...yes! Now that you mention it, the paddle shifters were getting sluggish before all this happened. Was your issue definitely the transmission control unit? How did you diagnose it?

Yep, that's exactly how mine started. Sounds like the affected control unit is defective. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. Better safe than sorry, right?

Thanks for the insight! Looks like I'll be heading to the shop for a transmission diagnosis. Knowing it might be the control unit helps. I appreciate the advice!
