XC90 Engine Jerking

My 2017 Volvo XC90 with a gasoline engine has developed an uneven running condition at 72224 kilometers. The check engine light is on, with an error stored. There's also a noticeable jerking during acceleration. Could this be a faulty ignition coil, oxygen sensor, or fuel injectors?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 Series. Check engine light and everything. It turned out to be a small leak in the exhaust system. Might be worth a look before replacing coils and sensors.

Thanks for the suggestion. What specific symptoms did you observe with your BMW? Were they consistent with the jerking I described, or were there other signs of the exhaust leak?

Yeah, the jerking was definitely there, especially at lower speeds. I'd get it checked out by a workshop. They can smoke test the exhaust system to find any leaks pretty easily.

I followed your advice and had the exhaust system inspected. A small leak was discovered and repaired. The total cost was 265€. The uneven running and jerking have now stopped.
