XC90 Lighting Issue

Good day. I am writing to inquire about a peculiar lighting issue in my 2004 Volvo XC90 diesel. At approximately 117475 kilometers, a fault in the lighting system has manifested. Specifically, the lights switch on without input, and an error is stored in the error memory. My initial assessment points towards a defective cable or plug connection within the component. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

Strange. Sounds kinda like what happened with my XC90. Is your dimmer switch acting up at all? Like, can you adjust the brightness of the dash lights normally?

Thank you for your swift response. Regarding the dimmer switch, its functionality appears normal, allowing adjustments to the dashboard lights. Could you elaborate on the specifics of the issue you encountered with your XC90?

Yeah, mine was similar. Dimmer worked fine, but the headlights would flicker and sometimes just come on. Turned out to be a short in the light switch itself. But, since you’ve got an error code, and you’ve checked the obvious stuff, it might be best to let a workshop have a look. Could save you a lot of hassle.

I appreciate your insight and shared experience. Based on your recommendation, I shall proceed with consulting a qualified workshop to investigate the matter further. It was indeed the light switch; cable or plug connection was defective. Total damage: 95€. Thank you again!
