XC90 Oil Level Sensor Fault

I've got a 2007 Volvo XC90 diesel with 171953 km. I'm getting an 'oil level sensor signal faulty' error. It's throwing the error message and warning light on the dash, and the oil pressure light flickered briefly the other day. I've checked the wiring and plug to the sensor, but has anyone else seen this before I start digging deeper?

I had something similar with my XC90, though it was intermittent at first. Have you checked the sensor itself? I remember reading about a common issue with the oil level sensors on these.

By checked do you mean tested the sensor with a multimeter or just visually inspected it? Trying to avoid throwing parts at it without proper diagnostics.

I just wiggled the wires a bit, which seemed to help temporarily. Ultimately, I took it to a shop who quoted 95€ to replace the sensor after confirming the wiring was fine, and it fixed the problem. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks for the info. I'll get it booked in then. Sounds like the sensor is goosed. Cheers for your help!
