XC90 Siren Communication Fault

Alright Volvo gurus, I'm pulling my hair out! My 2014 XC90 diesel, with 163542 km on the clock, is throwing a 'Siren Communication Fault' error. The alarm system is completely non-functional. I've checked all the fuses I can find, and nothing seems blown. Could this be a sign of a bigger problem, or am I missing something obvious? The error memory says it's likely a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else run into this before? It's driving me nuts!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my XC90. Alarm just flat out died. Have you checked the wiring harness that connects to the siren itself? They can sometimes corrode or get damaged, especially if you live in a place with harsh winters or salty roads. Give that a good look before you start tearing everything apart.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't specifically checked the siren wiring harness yet. Where exactly is the siren located in the XC90? I'm not sure where to start poking around. And when you say corrode, are we talking visibly green and crusty, or something more subtle? Any telltale signs I should be looking for?

Okay, on mine the siren was tucked up behind the wheel arch liner on the passenger side, front wheel. You might need to remove the wheel to get proper access. As for corrosion, yeah, look for the green crusty stuff, but also check for any wires that look brittle or have damaged insulation. If you're not comfortable messing with it, honestly, a workshop should be able to diagnose a cable/plug issue pretty quickly and cheaply.

Thanks a ton for the location tip and the corrosion advice! I think I'll take your advice and have a workshop take a look. I got a quote for 95€, which doesn't sound too bad, especially if it's just a dodgy connection. Appreciate the help!
