Xcent diesel throttle valve issue
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Hyundai Xcent diesel with 144,643 km is experiencing higher fuel consumption and poor starting, suspected to be due to a defective throttle valve. The issue might also be related to the accelerator pedal module. A suggestion was made to check the air intake and engine idle, as a faulty control valve can affect fuel efficiency and starting. Ultimately, the throttle valve was confirmed defective and replaced at a workshop, resolving the starting issue.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check the air intake. Where exactly is the control valve located? Is it easy to get to?

It's near the throttle body, but honestly, unless you're confident, I'd take it to a workshop. Could save you a headache. My mechanic found it pretty quickly.

Thanks. Took it to the workshop. You were right, throttle valve defective, and they replaced it. Cost me 205€. Starts like a charm now.

I had something similar with my Xcent. Check your air intake and engine idle. A dodgy control valve can mess with fuel efficiency and cause starting issues. Is the engine light on?
