Xcent fuel pressure sensor connection issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Hyundai Xcent diesel with 176,025 km is experiencing a check engine light, rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration. The suspected issue is a faulty fuel pressure sensor connection, possibly due to a defective cable or plug. The solution involved checking the sensor's wiring and plug for damage or corrosion, leading to a workshop visit where the connection was cleaned and a damaged wire replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'sensor connection', do you mean the actual plug that connects to the sensor, or something else entirely? And how did you figure out it was the connection and not the sensor itself?

Yeah, I meant the plug and wiring leading to the sensor. In my case, wiggling the connector made the engine run even worse, which pointed towards a bad connection. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Could save you a lot of headache. I ended up paying around 80€ for the diagnosis back then.

Just wanted to thank you for your advice! I took my Xcent to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed the fuel pressure sensor connection. They cleaned it up and replaced a damaged wire. Total cost was 95€, which I think is reasonable. Runs like new now! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds like a pain. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although it was a petrol engine. The symptoms were almost identical – check engine light, rough idle, and hesitation on acceleration. Turned out to be a faulty sensor connection messing with the fuel delivery. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and plug for any obvious damage or corrosion?
