Xcent rough idle and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Hyundai Xcent with 132,357 km was experiencing rough idling, stalling, and jerking during acceleration, accompanied by a steady check engine light. The suspected cause was a faulty ignition coil or a bad cable or plug connection. After inspection, it was confirmed that a defective ignition coil with a faulty plug connection was the issue, and fixing it resolved the problems, restoring the car's performance.

The check engine light is steady. I haven't checked the spark plugs yet, but the symptoms seem to point towards an ignition issue rather than fuel delivery, like a clogged injector or something. Could a faulty ignition coil cause all these problems at once? Like the engine stall, rough running, and jerking?

Yes, a defective ignition coil can definitely cause all of those issues. It's like a domino effect - one bad coil messes up the whole combustion process. If you're not comfortable diagnosing it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked out. Could save you a lot of headache.

Thanks! I took your advice and had it checked. Turns out it was indeed a defective ignition coil – a faulty plug connection to the component, just as I suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Runs like new now!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Xcent. Is the check engine light flashing, or is it steady? It could be a misfire, and that's often related to the ignition system. Have you checked the spark plugs?
