XRV Battery Discharging Rapidly
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda XRV is experiencing rapid battery discharge, with symptoms including a speedometer error, flickering lights, and a weak battery on startup. The issue may be due to a faulty charging system or a parasitic drain, potentially caused by a bad battery sensor. It is suggested to perform a load test on the battery and check the charging system, ideally at a workshop, to accurately diagnose and resolve the problem. The problem was confirmed to be a bad battery sensor, which was replaced at a workshop.

I haven't load tested the battery. Could a bad sensor really drain the battery that fast, even when the car is off? Can I check this myself, or do I need special tools?

Yes, a faulty battery sensor can cause rapid discharge. If the voltage or current readings are off, the car's computer might mismanage charging or not shut down systems correctly. You could do some basic checks with a multimeter, but I'd recommend a workshop for a proper charging system test to find the exact cause, given the complexity.

Took it to a workshop, and it was a bad battery sensor. Total cost was 315€. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a charging system issue or a parasitic drain. Maybe the battery sensor is bad and sending the wrong info to the car's computer. Has the battery been load tested?
