Where exactly are these connections located? I'm not sure where to look. And, if I find them, what am I looking for?

I'm no mechanic, but usually they are right near the steering column itself, under the dash. Look for any loose or corroded plugs. Honestly, though, with electric steering, messing with it too much can be risky. If you're not confident, maybe best to take it to a workshop!

You were bang on with the cable suggestion. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection, just as you suggested. Cost me 95€ to get sorted. Much appreciated!

That sucks! I've not had that exact problem, but electric steering can be a real pain. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the steering column motor? A dodgy connection could cause those symptoms. Just a thought!
