XRV Rain Light Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Honda XRV owner reported a rain-light sensor fault, leading to issues with automatic wipers, headlight control, and speedometer dimming. A possible cause was identified as bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, affecting sensor performance. After inspecting and confirming the presence of bubbles, the sensor was replaced, resolving the issues.

Thanks! I hadn't considered the windshield. Could you elaborate on where these bubbles would form and how they might impact the sensor readings? Would this cause all the symptoms I'm seeing?

From what I understand, the bubbles form directly under the gel pad where the rain sensor attaches to the windshield. I can't guarantee it's the cause, but it's plausible that these bubbles interfere with the sensor's ability to accurately detect light and rain, causing the cascade of issues you're experiencing. Visiting a workshop might be best to be sure.

I appreciate the insight! I inspected the gel pad and found small bubbles. I followed your advice and went to the workshop. After replacing the sensor, which cost me 62€, everything works again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I own a Honda XRV as well, though not a 2022 model, and your symptoms ring a bell. I recall another user mentioning something about bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield affecting the sensor's performance. Did you check the windshield condition around the sensor?
