Xsara damping issue

My 2000 Citroen Xsara, gasoline engine, has a damping issue at 236041 km. The error memory has a fault, there's a warning light, and the ride is bumpy. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection on a damping component. Anyone seen this?

I had a similar issue with my Opel Astra. Same symptoms: warning light, uncomfortable ride. Did you check the connections to the shock absorbers themselves? Could be a loose plug.

When you say 'connections to the shock absorbers,' are you referring to the electronic damping control unit's wiring, or the physical mounting points of the shock absorber itself?

Yes, I meant the electronic damping control wiring. I spent ages checking mechanical parts before realizing it was just a loose connection. Eventually, I got tired and took it to a workshop. They confirmed the connection and wanted to charge me a fortune for a new cable. Best go to the workshop and have it fixed, it will cost you less.

That confirms my suspicion. I'll get it booked in. Garage quoted 95€ for the cable replacement, which seems reasonable. Thanks for the advice.
