Xsara Tire Pressure Sensor Fault

I've got a 2006 Citroen Xsara with a gasoline engine, mileage is at 66450 km. Recently, the tire pressure warning light is on. The speedometer flashes 'Tire pressure too low' and the reader stores an error. Is it just the sensor battery failing?

I had a similar issue on my Xsara. Those sensors can be a pain. Double-check the actual tire pressure with a manual gauge first, to rule out leaks or inflation issues. Is it only one tire, or are you getting multiple warnings?

Good shout on the manual gauge, I'll give that a go. It seems to be only one wheel that's giving me grief, but could one faulty sensor cause the system to throw a general error?

Yes, a single faulty sensor can definitely cause the whole system to wig out and throw a general error. More likely it's just a sensor failure. Unfortunately, you'll probably need to visit a workshop to get it properly diagnosed and replaced.

Cheers for the advice! Turns out it was exactly as you suspected - dud sensor. Bit of a sting at 280€ for the replacement and labor, but at least the annoying warning light is gone!
