Thanks for sharing your experience with the steering column repair. I had almost identical electronic steering issues with my 2022 XT6, including the error codes and complete failure of the adjustment system. Really helpful to hear about the wiring connection being the root cause, did you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the full repair? And has everything worked properly since the fix? Just want to ensure I get a complete picture before heading to the shop, as Im hoping to avoid any surprise costs or follow-up repairs with this mechanical fault.

Had the exact same electric steering problems fixed last month. The mechanic found a damaged cable connection that was causing the adjustment failure. Total repair cost came to 95€, which covered diagnosing the issue and replacing the faulty wiring components. Since the repair, the electronic steering column adjustment has worked flawlessly. No error codes or mechanical faults have returned. The steering issue was resolved much more quickly and affordably than expected, taking just under 2 hours to complete. The adjustment issue turned out to be purely electrical rather than a complex mechanical fault. Getting it fixed early likely prevented more extensive damage to the steering system. Regular system checks by qualified techs can catch these steering failures before they worsen. My advice would be to have it checked soon, as these electrical steering problems rarely fix themselves and could lead to bigger issues if left unaddressed.

Thanks everyone for the detailed feedback. I took my XT6 to the shop yesterday for the steering column adjustment problem. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed a wiring issue, corroded connector pins were causing the electronic steering failure. The repair took about 3 hours total. They had to remove several panels to access the steering column adjustment mechanism and replace the damaged wiring harness. Total cost came to 280€ including parts and labor. More than expected but still reasonable given the complexity. Happy to report the mechanical fault is completely resolved now. All electronic steering functions are working perfectly again, no more error codes showing up. The column adjustment moves smoothly in all directions. A good lesson learned about addressing these steering issues promptly before they potentially cause bigger problems. The detailed diagnostic scan they ran actually caught a few other minor electrical issues that got fixed at the same time.

I encountered a similar steering failure on my 2019 XT5 recently. The electronic steering column adjustment stopped responding, showing identical symptoms. The root cause was a faulty wiring connection between the steering column motor and the control module. The repair involved: Complete diagnostic scan, Removal of steering column covers, Cable harness inspection and replacement, Recalibration of the power steering system This turned out to be a serious issue requiring professional attention. While the steering remained functional for driving, the adjustment issue needed immediate repair to prevent potential safety concerns. The service took about 4 hours at an authorized service center. A thorough inspection revealed corrosion on the connector pins, which caused the adjustment mechanism to fail. Regular maintenance checks could help spot early signs of connection issues before complete failure occurs. Key advice: Have the error code properly diagnosed first. The steering column adjustment problems often stem from electrical connections rather than mechanical components, but proper diagnosis is essential for accurate repair.
