XTrail Starting Difficulties

I own a 2006 Nissan XTrail with a diesel engine and am experiencing starting difficulties. My mechanic suspects a heavily discharged or defective battery, saying there's a problem with 'Terminal 30 continuous plus interrupted'. Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

I also have an XTrail and had a similar problem a few months back. The car struggled to start, especially on cold mornings. My mechanic mentioned a drain on the battery, possibly a short circuit somewhere. Did your mechanic check the charging system and the starter motor? It might also be worth checking the wiring harness for damage or corrosion.

That is very helpful. I will ask my mechanic about the charging system and starter motor. Could you elaborate on the short circuit? Was it difficult to locate, and did it cause any other electrical issues?

The short circuit was tricky to find. It was a faulty connection in the ignition switch circuit. The mechanic spent time tracing the wires. I didn't experience other electrical issues then, but he advised that leaving it could have caused further damage. I'd recommend a thorough diagnosis at a qualified workshop.

Thanks for the information and advice. I appreciate you sharing your experience. I scheduled an appointment with a reputable workshop. They identified a faulty battery and some corroded wiring, costing 290€. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue.
