Yaris Hybrid AC failure

Alright, I'm at my wit's end. My 2013 Toyota Yaris hybrid AC's completely dead – no cold air whatsoever. The AC system refuses to engage, and a warning light's glaring at me. I scanned it and found an error related to the refrigerant compressor. I'm suspecting the AC control unit is faulty. Anyone else wrestled with this demon?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Toyota Yaris hybrid experienced a complete AC failure, with no cold air and a warning light indicating an issue with the refrigerant compressor. The initial suspicion was a faulty AC control unit. A similar case confirmed that identical symptoms and error codes pointed to a defective control unit. The solution involved consulting a qualified technician, who confirmed the control unit as the problem, leading to its replacement and resolving the issue.

I've encountered a similar predicament with my Yaris. The symptoms you've described mirror my experience, particularly the error code pertaining to the refrigerant compressor and the complete absence of cooling. Considering the error stored in the error memory, and the air conditioning system failing to switch on, I would like to inquire whether you have verified the integrity of the refrigerant pressure sensor circuit. A faulty sensor or wiring could potentially manifest similar symptoms.

Interesting point. I did a visual check of the wiring, but I haven't dug deep with a multimeter yet. When you say 'similar predicament', are we talking identical symptoms and error codes? Was it indeed the control unit in your case?

Affirmative. The symptoms were indeed identical, culminating in a diagnostic assessment that pointed towards a defective air conditioning control unit. Given the convergence of symptoms and error codes, alongside the age of your vehicle, it would be prudent to consult with a qualified automotive technician for a comprehensive evaluation. In my experience, a systematic approach to diagnostics, including pressure tests and control unit functionality checks, is paramount in confirming the root cause.

Thanks for the detailed info! I bit the bullet and took it to my local shop. Turns out, the AC control unit was indeed the culprit. Cost me 980€ to replace, but at least I'm back in the cool zone. Appreciate the insight!
