Yaris Hybrid Generator Malfunction

I'm having a concerning issue with my 2021 Toyota Yaris hybrid. At 56624 km, it's showing signs of a generator problem. Engine power is noticeably reduced, a warning light is on, and starting is difficult. Lights are weak/flickering, and a diagnostic scan shows an error. Has anyone else had similar issues with their Yaris hybrid?

Sounds rough. I had something similar happen with my Yaris. Reduced power, the whole shebang. First, have you checked the battery connections? Could be a loose terminal causing voltage drops and messing with the car's electronics. Also, any weird noises coming from the engine bay, like a whining sound? That could point directly to the alternator/generator struggling. It's worth checking the basics before jumping to conclusions.

I did inspect the battery terminals and connections, and they seem secure. I haven't detected any distinct whining sounds, although the overall engine noise seems slightly more pronounced during acceleration. Could you elaborate on the specifics of your experience? Was the diagnosis a faulty generator, and what was the remedy?

Yep, in my case, it turned out to be the generator. Took it to a trusted workshop after messing about myself for a bit, and they confirmed it. Symptoms were pretty much identical. Honestly, with those error codes and the lights flickering, I reckon you're looking at the same issue. Best to get it properly diagnosed by a mechanic. They'll be able to confirm it and give you a proper quote. Save yourself the headache.

I appreciate your confirmation and advice. I will schedule an appointment with a reputable mechanic for a comprehensive diagnosis and repair. Preliminary quotes suggest a repair cost of approximately 960€, which aligns with replacing the generator. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
