Yaris OBD Readiness Incomplete

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a weird issue I'm having with my 2015 Toyota Yaris diesel. It's got 125,635 km on the clock. I recently had it hooked up to an OBD2 scanner, and now I'm getting a 'System Readiness Check Incomplete' error. The error is stored and it keeps showing me an error message in the speedometer. I suspect it might have something to do with the exhaust system not being fully tested since the OBD2 readout. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on how to get the system readiness to complete without spending a fortune? I'm due for vehicle inspection soon.

Sounds like your Yaris's OBD readiness monitors haven't been set since the scan. Think of it like this: the car needs to run a few self-tests to make sure all the systems are working properly after the diagnostic check. Did the scanner clear the car's memory or something? You might need to perform a 'drive cycle' to get everything back in order.

Thanks for the quick response! So, a 'drive cycle', huh? Could you elaborate on what that involves? Is it just a specific way of driving the car, or are there other things I need to consider? I'm not sure how to execute this drive cycle. I want to be sure I'm doing it right before my vehicle inspection.

Yeah, a drive cycle is basically a set of driving conditions that forces the car to run all its diagnostic tests. The exact procedure varies depending on the car model, but it usually involves a mix of highway and city driving. Honestly, unless you know the exact Toyota Yaris diesel drive cycle, you might be chasing your tail. At this point it is probably easier to just swing by a local shop, they often have a tool to force the readiness.

You were absolutely right! I took it to a trusted mechanic, and he was able to force the readiness using his scan tool. No cost at all, thankfully. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
