Yaris Radar Sensor Failure

I have a 2006 Toyota Yaris diesel. At 107667 kilometers, the radar sensor seems to have stopped working. An error message shows in the speedometer, and there's an error stored. Also, the safety systems are failing, with a warning light on the speedometer. Could this be dirt?

Sounds like a sensor malfunction is possible. Has it been exposed to unusually dirty or dusty conditions recently? Adaptive cruise and collision avoidance are often tied to that radar sensor, but it could be a deeper problem.

Thanks. I haven't knowingly exposed it to anything out of the ordinary. Could cleaning the sensor be a first step, or should I get a diagnostic calibration?

Cleaning is worth a try, but given the system errors, I'd suggest getting a professional opinion. These systems are complex and affect vehicle safety; a workshop visit might be necessary.

Thanks for the help. Cleaning the sensor at the workshop fixed it, costing 45€!
