Yaris Temperature Sensor Issue

I've got a weird issue with my 2004 Toyota Yaris diesel. The outside temperature sensor seems to be on the fritz. I'm getting an error stored, the air conditioning refuses to switch on, the spray nozzles are freezing up even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating is completely useless. I'm suspecting it's a dodgy cable or plug connection to the sensor itself. Anyone else run into this?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms on my old 2012 Vauxhall Astra. A faulty temp sensor can really mess things up! Was the temperature gauge on the dash reading crazy numbers too?

Yeah, the temperature gauge is all over the place, jumping from one extreme to another. Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop?

Nah, I tried fiddling with it myself, but I just ended up making things worse. In the end, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly – turned out the sensor was completely shot.

Appreciate the advice! I suspected as much, will bring it into the workshop. It was spot on! Faulty temp sensor and a corroded connector. 95€ later, and it's all sorted.
