Yaris Turbo Actuator Issue

My 2023 Toyota Yaris with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. At 185674 km, the check engine light is always on. Engine power is way down, response is awful, and it whistles and hisses like crazy when I accelerate. It also stalls at idle, and fuel consumption is through the roof. I suspect a boost pressure actuator fault, maybe an electrical bypass valve malfunction. Does this sound like a turbocharger issue?

I have a Yaris too, and I had something similar. Reduced power, weird noises... Have you checked the turbo actuator? Could be the wastegate sticking.

Interesting! Sticking wastegate... How do I check that? What did you do to fix it? Was the whistling really loud?

I'm no mechanic, but the symptoms were super similar. I took it to a workshop, and they sorted it. I think the faulty part was called "turbo actuator". Given the louder whistling and power loss, you should do the same.

I took it to a mechanic, and you were right. It was the boost pressure actuator and its defective electrical bypass valve. The repair was 250€, but the Yaris runs smoothly now. Thanks for the help!
