Zoe Rear Ventilation Flap Fault

My 2013 Renault Zoe (electric) has a climate control issue at 117888 km. The air conditioning isn't cooling well, especially in the back. Diagnostics show an error with the rear ventilation flap. Has anyone else had trouble with their Zoe's rear ventilation or air distribution?

Whoa, sounds annoying! Is it throwing codes related to the flap motor itself, or is it more vague like "climate control malfunction"? The rear vent flap is usually controlled by a small electric motor. It’s possible the motor is dead, or more likely, the wiring harness or the plug connecting to the motor has gone bad. Check the wiring – sometimes wires get brittle and crack, especially near connectors. Give the plug a wiggle and see if anything changes. You might need to pull the trim panel to get a good look.

The error code doesn't mention the motor, just a general malfunction in the rear ventilation flap circuit. Could you explain how to inspect the wiring harness and plug? What are the signs of a bad cable or connection?

Okay, 'general malfunction' is super vague! Grab a multimeter if you have one. First, check for voltage at the plug when the system should be activating the flap. No voltage usually means wiring or the control unit. If you HAVE voltage, the motor's likely the culprit. Visually inspect the wires – look for any cracks, breaks, or corrosion. Corrosion can build up inside the plug, even if you can’t see it easily. Honestly though, for something like that, paying a shop the 95€ to diagnose it properly might save you a headache. They can pinpoint it way faster.

I followed your advice and found a bad connection point in the wiring harness and plug. I took it to a shop, and they confirmed the cable/plug connection was defective. It cost 95€ to repair. Thanks again for your help!
