Hey Chuck! Thanks for the solid advice. I can definitely relate to your frosty morning predicament. Nothing worse than trying to scrap away at an iceberg windshield in the wee hours, eh? Glad to hear your experience with the mechanic was pretty smooth sailing. Up until now, I've just had a string of bad luck with repair shops. Reliable garages are worth their weight in gold! I was actually curious, if you remember, how much did that windshield heater fix set you back? And on the side, have you run into any other issues since the repair? I'm just trying to brace myself for any potential surprises down the line. Cheers!

Hey! Totally get your point about reliable garages, it's like finding a needle in a haystack. But once you've got one, it's all smooth sailing! About the cost, yeah I do remember. The repair of the windscreen heating set me back by around 585€. It was definitely necessary, trust me, totally worth every penny! Now, I can easily brave the frosty mornings, no more scrapping for me. As for any other issues post the repair, let's just say it’s been pretty cool (pun intended!). The mechanic solved everything related to windscreen heating, so there's been no problems. Literally took the chill out of my winter drives, if you know what I mean. Bottom line, don't wait on it. Get it checked sooner rather than later and you'll be thanking yourself when winter comes around. Take care and drive safe!

Hey Chuck! Appreciate the honesty. That price tag isn't exactly music to my ears, but it's good to get a rough idea upfront. Far better than marching in blindly, that's for sure. It's reassuring to hear you've been problem-free since the repair. Gives me a bit of peace of mind! The cost is a blow, no doubt, but I gotta agree with you - can't let the whole thing ice over just because of a few frosty mornings. Early action is probably key here, better get it sorted before winter rolls around again. Alright, I'm off to face the music. Thanks for the insights, drive safe as well and take care! I'll report back when I get this whole thing sorted out. Later!

Hey there! Chuck from the other side of the web here! I run a 2018 Seat Leon myself. Oh boy, I had a very similar issue last year. It was indeed connected to the windscreen heating functionality. Found out that my heating element in the windscreen heater was defective and needed replacement. It's basically this thin layer of conductive paint applied on the inside of the windshield, keeping it nice and toasty in winter months. Was it serious then? Well, not in a 'my-car-is-going-to-break-apart' way, but man, did I feel the blow in those frosty mornings. Certainly wasn't an ignore and hope for the best situation in the colder months, you know? Trust me, you'll thank yourself for dealing with it sooner rather than later. As for any worry about dealing with a mechanic, just remember - not everyone's out there to scam ya. I ended up finding a reputable garage and they promptly sorted it out. Did a top-notch job with mine, no muss, no fuss! So, my advice? Sounds like it's time to face the music and make that mechanic appointment. Wishing you all the best with it!
