Alphard oil pressure warning light

I've got a 2023 Toyota Alphard hybrid with about 162k km on the clock. Recently, the oil pressure warning lamp has been lighting up, and I'm seeing a warning light in the speedometer. The error memory also shows a fault. I suspect it might be the engine oil temperature sensor. Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my Alphard. The symptoms sound very familiar. Before you jump to replacing the sensor itself, have you checked the cable and plug connection? A dodgy connection there can throw off the readings and cause those exact symptoms. It's like having a loose wire on a lightbulb – the light flickers even if the bulb is fine.

Thanks for the tip! That's helpful. Where exactly is the oil temperature sensor located, and is the cable/plug easily accessible? I want to check it before replacing anything.

The sensor is usually near the oil filter housing, but honestly, tracing wires in modern cars is like navigating a rat's nest. While you can try to DIY it, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the connection and sensor with the right tools. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty connection, and cleaning/reseating it fixed the problem. A new sensor wouldn't have helped.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! The cable connection was indeed the culprit. They cleaned it up, and the warning lights are gone. Total cost was 95€. Thanks again for saving me from needlessly replacing the sensor!
