BMW 2 Series Stalling and Check Engine, Valve Issue?

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm having similar symptoms with my Bimmer at 173833 KM. Actually, it tends to happen more when the tank is about a quarter full, and the stalling is especially bad after short trips. I did a quick scan and got the fault code P0441, which points to the EVAP system. Been hesitant to drive it much since it started acting up. Your hose issue sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. I'm honestly a bit relieved to hear it might be something relatively straightforward like that. Did you notice any fuel smell before getting it fixed? I'm trying to gather all the info I can before heading to the workshop. Just had it serviced last month, so it's frustrating to have issues pop up so soon after.

Hey again! I totally get your frustration, these issues always seem to pop up right after a service, don't they? You know what, that P0441 code is exactly what I got with my BMW 3! Funny coincidence. And yeah, I actually did notice a faint fuel smell, especially when parked in my garage. The quarter tank detail you mentioned really rings a bell, that's precisely when mine started acting up too. Makes me even more convinced we had the same problem. Mine also had that annoying stalling after short trips. Looking back, I probably should've taken it in sooner, but you know how it goes, always hoping it'll sort itself out! Since my repair, I've put on about 20,000 km with zero issues. The clogged hoses were definitely the culprit in my case. Quick heads up though, while my fix was fairly cheap, prices can vary depending on what exactly needs replacing. My mechanic mentioned that sometimes these EVAP system issues can be linked to other components too. Keep us posted on what your workshop finds. Would be really interesting to see if it's the same problem. And hey, better to get it checked now before it potentially becomes something bigger, right?

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! This definitely makes me feel better about getting it checked out. I just scheduled an appointment with my workshop for tomorrow morning, didn't want to risk driving it much more with these symptoms. You're absolutely right about dealing with it sooner rather than later. It's really helpful to know that your repair sorted everything out completely. The similarities in our cases are pretty striking, same fault code, similar symptoms, and even the quarter tank issue. Even though I'm still annoyed about having car trouble so soon after a service, at least I can go to the workshop with a better idea of what might be wrong. I'll definitely update everyone once I get it looked at. Really appreciate everyone's help and experiences. Fingers crossed it's just clogged hoses like yours and nothing more serious!

Hi there! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2017 BMW 3 Series. When my check engine light came on with similar symptoms, I was pretty worried too. Took it to my regular workshop, and it turned out the hoses were completely clogged, which was messing with the fuel system pressure. The mechanic cleared them out and replaced a couple of parts. Total bill came to about 175 Euro, but it's been running smoothly since then. Could you share more details about when this started happening? Like, does it occur more when the tank is full or empty? This might help narrow down if you're dealing with the same problem I had. Also, do you have the specific fault code from the ECU? That would be really helpful to know.
