BMW 3 Lighting and Rain Sensor Issues

I own a 2005 BMW 3 with a gasoline engine and 90,000 km mileage. I'm experiencing some issues with the lighting and rain sensor. When I set the Lighting Control Module to 'Automatic', the tiny green light next to it blinks. Additionally, the rain sensor intermittently fails to work in the Automatic setting. I know the windshield was replaced, but I'm unsure if this is related to the headlight setting and rain sensor issues. Could anyone provide some insights or solutions to these problems?

Unfortunately, resetting the LCM typically requires specialized diagnostic tools beyond basic consumer-level devices like Carly. Since you've already tried the battery disconnect method without success, it's likely that the issue is more complex. I recommend having a professional with the appropriate diagnostic equipment inspect and potentially reprogram or replace the LCM. This is important to ensure your vehicle's lighting system functions correctly and safely. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi there, I did buy a used LCM with the same serial numbers as mine and installed it, all light settings are now working correctly, except I have tail lights warning light that is now showing on my dash... although all the lights are working properly. I disconnected power for 20 min thinking the reset of the LCM may correct the issue but it did not. I continue to have the dash for both tail lights... any way I can properly reset this and avoid paying hundreds of dollars to BMW??? thanks again.

Hello again, I bought a used LCM with the same exact serial number on it as mine, and replaced mine... All the light switch setting is now working correctly, however I now have both tail lights warning light on my dash... I disconnected battery for 20 minutes to see if the LCM reset will eliminate those lights but it did not... is there any other way to reset this without the need to go to BMW and spend hundreds?

The tail light warning might be due to a mismatch in the coding of the used LCM to your vehicle. Each LCM is coded to the specific vehicle it was originally installed in, and swapping it without re-coding can cause warning lights. You may need to have the LCM coded to your car using specialized diagnostic equipment. Some independent BMW specialists can perform this service at a lower cost than a dealership.
