Clio door contact signal fault

Hi, I have a 2006 Renault Clio with a gasoline engine, and I'm having trouble with what I think is the door contact signal. Basically, the affected door won't lock or unlock anymore, either with the key fob or manually. I've checked the fuses and they seem fine. I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or knows what else I can check before taking it to a mechanic? My car has 106565 km on the clock.

The symptoms do suggest a fault with the door switch itself or the wiring to it. Has the door been damaged recently? Check the cable and plug connection of the component. It's a common failure point in these systems.

Thanks for the quick reply! By 'cable and plug connection', do you mean taking the door panel off and looking at the wires connected to the door latch mechanism? Is there anything specific I should look for, like broken wires or corrosion?

Yes, that's correct. Removing the door panel will give you access. Look for any frayed or broken wires, loose connections, or corrosion on the connector pins. If you're not comfortable with electrical testing, it might be best to get a workshop to diagnose it properly. It could prevent further damage. You will likely need a new door switch, including installation calculate about 95€

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage, and you were right – it was a defective connection in the door. They replaced it, and everything is working fine now.
