Corolla won't start

I'm having a serious issue with my 2005 Toyota Corolla diesel. It just won't start! I've checked the basics, and the mileage is at 137627 km. I suspect it might be an engine control malfunction, but I'm not sure where to even begin troubleshooting. Any ideas? I'm really starting to panic!

Sounds rough. I had a similar problem with my old 2012 Peugeot 308. Turned out the battery cable connections were corroded. Might be worth checking those before diving into anything more complex.

Interesting! You mean just cleaning the terminals and making sure they're tight? Or is there more to it than that? I didn't think that could completely stop the car from starting.

Yeah, exactly that. Clean 'em up good and make sure they're properly tightened. In my case, they looked okay at first glance, but cleaning them made all the difference. If that doesn't work, then I'd probably take it to a workshop for diagnostics.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! You were spot on – cleaned the battery cable connections, and it fired right up! Ended up costing me 155€ for the cleaning in the workshop. Huge relief, thought it was going to be something much worse. Appreciate the help!
