CT200h Overheating Speed Sensor

My 2018 Lexus CT200h (hybrid) is overheating, and the check engine light is on. The radiator fan is acting up – either running full blast constantly, even when the engine's cold, or not running at all when it should be. I suspected a faulty temperature sensor, but the readings seem normal. Could it be the fan motor itself, or is there something else I'm missing? Pretty stressed because I rely on this car every day!

I had a similar problem with my CT200h. The symptoms sound eerily familiar. In my case, it turned out to be the speed sensor, that was causing the fan to go crazy. Did you check the speed sensor?

Interesting! I didn't think about the speed sensor. Where is it located, and how did you diagnose it as the culprit? Was the fan running constantly, or just intermittently malfunctioning like mine?

Yes, the fan was running constantly and sometimes didn't work at all. As far as location goes, I'm not 100% sure but I think it's near the front wheel hub. I didn't diagnose it myself, I took it to a shop and they figured it out pretty quickly. My advice would be to go to the workshop.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic. Turns out the speed sensor was the problem, just like you suspected! Got it replaced for about 250€ and the overheating issue seems to be gone. Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
