Electrical problems with the BMW X5 Diesel 2011: Flickering lights and weak battery

Hi everyone, I need your help. I drive a 2011 BMW X5 Diesel with about 130,000 km on the clock. Recently it has started having electrical problems - the lights are flickering, the battery is weak especially when starting and general electrical problems. The fault memory keeps showing up and I suspect problems with terminal 30. Has anyone ever had similar problems and can tell me about their experience at the mechanic? My last visit to the garage wasn't that great. Many thanks in advance!

And the light range control does not work either, could this be related to terminal 30g-f 🤔

It's possible that the issues could be related, as both involve the vehicle's electrical system. The light range control issue could be due to a problem with the headlight leveling system, which could be affected if there's an issue with the power supply (such as from terminal 30g-f). However, without a thorough inspection, it's hard to say for certain. I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect both issues to determine if they're related and to identify the exact cause. Please keep us updated on your progress.

I have ordered terminal 30g -f and will check the battery tomorrow. Is it due to the cold season that the battery is weaker? Then next year a new one comes in, could that also be the cause? I have various sensors, all vacuum hoses new, turbo, rear axle carrier with brake hose, brake shoes, wishbones, EGR valve, shock absorbers + springs front and rear new, are just under 13K €. Temperature hope that stops then, all filters + oil new. Battery I can save via Carly APP or ?

Cold weather can indeed affect a battery's performance, so it's possible that could be contributing to the issue. If your battery is several years old, it might be nearing the end of its lifespan. You can check the battery's health using the Carly app. If you replace the battery, remember to register it to your vehicle's computer system, which you can also do using the Carly app. This ensures your vehicle's charging system adjusts its charging rate to suit the new battery. The engine control light always comes on, is this due to terminal 30g-f, can I change it? What do I have to consider? FS is empty despite motor control light

The engine control light coming on could be due to a variety of reasons, not just the terminal 30g-f. It's generally an indication of an issue within the engine or emission system. If the fault memory is empty despite the light, it could be a temporary issue that resolved itself or a glitch. However, if the light persists, I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect your vehicle to identify the exact cause. If you're considering changing the terminal 30g-f yourself, ensure you're comfortable with vehicle electrical systems and always disconnect the battery before starting any work. Can this also be due to LMM shows a flare but is not critical in the FS. have also ordered a Bosch LMM now

Yes, a faulty Mass Air Flow (LMM) sensor can cause the engine control light to come on. The sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine and is crucial for proper engine operation. If it's showing a fault, even if it's not critical, it's a good idea to replace it. Using a high-quality replacement like a Bosch sensor is a good choice. After replacing the sensor, monitor your vehicle to see if the engine control light turns off. If it doesn't, further investigation will be needed. Please keep us updated on your progress.
