Electronics problems with the 2018 BMW 2 Series petrol engine: sat nav failure and warning lights

Hello everyone, I have a few problems with my 2018 BMW 2 Series gasoline engine, which now has 27790 km on it. The electronics have recently started to go haywire, my sat nav sometimes won't start at all or only after a while. And sometimes a warning light comes on in the speedometer. Have any of you had similar problems and can tell me how they were solved by your mechanic? My last visit to the garage wasn't that great, so I'd better ask here before I go there again. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a 2018 BMW 2 Series petrol engine experiencing electronic issues, including a malfunctioning sat nav and warning lights on the speedometer. Possible causes suggested include faulty communication between control units, problems in the vehicle electrical system, and voltage fluctuations in the battery. Solutions proposed range from extensive troubleshooting and repair at a factory, to a simple reset of the control units by disconnecting the battery. A software update was also suggested as a potential fix for the sat nav issue.

I have a 2015 BMW 535i, 133k miles. I have several issues and one is the Air Condition clutch is not engaging (have Shay replaced the compressor, ac lines, had the system vacuum and serviced by a pro, have replaced the IKHA panel and AUC sensor to no avail. Code I’m getting is E17429

Hello, Have you checked whether the voltage for the compressor clutch is OK when the air conditioning is activated? Have you checked whether the fuse for the compressor is OK?

The fuses are good and have double checked. I am not seeing voltage at the clutch wire. I have verified the wires are good and all have continuity (I am a retired aircraft avionics technician). There is not voltage coming from the top right connector (engine bay, left hand drive, close to the windshield washer line connection, green wire) that on the schematic shows coming from the JBE

Actually I swapped the JBE out with another unit and have the exact same results. No changes on anything. Could this be software related??

Hello, Has the control unit not been programmed to the vehicle? Otherwise the whole thing will not work.

This could be due to a variety of issues, such as a problem with the engine mounts, transmission mounts, or a misfire in one of the cylinders. I would recommend starting with a check of the engine and transmission mounts. If these are fine, you may need to have a mechanic diagnose the issue.
