Espace oil pressure warning
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Renault Espace owner experienced an oil pressure warning light and loud mechanical noises from the engine. The issue was suspected to be related to low oil, but the oil level was found to be adequate with no leaks. A suggestion was made to check the oil pump, as similar symptoms in another vehicle were caused by a failing oil pump. After visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the oil pump was defective and was subsequently replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the tip! I checked the oil level, and it seems ok. No oil leakage to be found. How did you know that the problem was the oil pump?

Well, my mechanic checked the oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge and it was way too low. Loud mechanical noises from the engine + low oil pressure = defect in the oil pump. I would recommend visiting the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were right – the oil pump was defect. They replaced it, and it cost me 755€. Hopefully, it's sorted now!

Sounds nasty! I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Insignia. Turned out the oil pump was failing. Have you checked the oil level and for any obvious oil leakage? What about the oil viscosity – is it the correct grade?
