Macan's Dead Blower: HVAC Ghost in Porsche's Machine

Hey everyone, having troubles with my 2017 Porsche Macan Diesel (36,445 km). The AC/heating system is acting up, blower's not working right and I can barely feel any air coming through, whether hot or cold. I suspect it might be an AUC sensor issue. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear about your experiences and recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around Porsche HVAC systems. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

The 2017 Porsche Macan Diesel experienced issues with its AC/heating system, specifically weak airflow from the blower. The suspected cause was a faulty AUC sensor, which is crucial for the HVAC system's performance. A similar problem was resolved in a Porsche Cayenne by replacing the defective AUC sensor and recalibrating the HVAC control module at a dealership. The recommended solution was to consult a Porsche specialist for accurate diagnosis and repair, which proved effective as the Macan's system was restored to optimal function after the sensor replacement.

Had the same problem with my 2014 Porsche Cayenne Diesel last winter. The symptoms were identical, weak airflow and inconsistent blower performance. Turned out you're right about the sensor, in my case, the AUC (Automatic Air Recirculation) sensor was completely shot. Got it fixed at the dealership since it was pretty specific to Porsche's system. The sensor itself was defective and had to be replaced, plus they needed to recalibrate the HVAC control module. It wasn't just a quick fix, took them most of the day to sort it out properly. This isn't a minor issue since it affects the whole climate control system. If left unchecked, it can stress other HVAC components. In my case, I also noticed the blower motor was starting to work harder to compensate. I'd strongly recommend going to a Porsche specialist for this one. They've got the right diagnostic tools and know these systems inside out.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Super helpful to know I'm not alone with this issue. Would you mind telling me roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also curious if you've had any other HVAC problems since getting it repaired? My wallet's already crying thinking about the dealership prices, but sounds like it might be worth it to get it done right.

Hey again! Glad I could help with the info about the AUC sensor issue. Just to update you, since getting my Cayenne fixed at the dealership, everything's been running perfectly smooth. The total bill came to 90€ for the sensor replacement, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting for a Porsche repair! I know dealership prices can be scary, but in this case, it was pretty reasonable. The best part? Haven't had a single HVAC problem since then. The air flow is back to normal, and the whole system works like a charm. It's such a relief not having to deal with that weak airflow anymore. The blower's running exactly as it should, and I can actually feel the air coming through properly now, whether I want it hot or cold. Trust me, getting it fixed at a proper Porsche specialist was totally worth it. They knew exactly what they were doing with the AUC sensor, and the quick diagnosis saved time and potentially more expensive repairs down the road. Sometimes you've just got to bite the bullet and go to the experts!

Just wanted to update everyone, I took your advice and got it sorted at the Porsche dealership yesterday. what a difference! You were spot on about the AUC sensor being the culprit. The whole thing took about 4 hours, and set me back 85€, pretty close to what you paid. The mechanic was super professional and walked me through everything they did. Apparently, my sensor was completely busted, and they also did a quick system check to make sure nothing else was affected. Got lucky there! The AC's now blowing like it's brand new, can't believe I put up with that weak airflow for so long! Already tested both the heating and cooling, and everything's working perfectly. Guess sometimes you just have to trust the experts, even if it means paying a bit more at the dealership. Thanks again for pushing me in the right direction. Definitely saved me from potentially bigger headaches down the road!
