Master oil level sensor fault

Hi, I have a 2003 Renault Master with a diesel engine and 205192 km on the clock. I'm getting an error message related to the oil level sensor signal being faulty. Symptoms include an error in the speedometer, a stored error code, a warning light, and the oil pressure warning lamp sometimes lighting up. I suspect it's the cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey, I also drive a Master, and I had similar issues. It turned out to be a faulty connection indeed. Have you checked the wiring harness near the sensor itself? Sometimes they get brittle and crack.

Thanks for the tip! When you say wiring harness, do you mean the one directly connected to the oil level sensor, or further up the line? Was your oil pressure lamp also coming on intermittently?

Yes, I meant the one directly connected to the sensor. And yes, the oil pressure lamp was also coming on now and then. I'd suggest checking that connection thoroughly. If it's not that, you might need to have a workshop take a look at it.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Turns out you were spot on. I wiggled the connector and the light went out, I went to the workshop, they replaced the plug with a new one, everything works again. Cost me 95€ - worth it!
