Matrix Rear Window Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Hyundai Matrix is experiencing a rear window heating issue, with a fault stored in the error memory and weaker windshield heating. The problem is likely due to an electrical supply issue, possibly caused by a weak or dying battery. Suggested solutions include checking the battery voltage under load, inspecting fuses and relays, and testing the battery's capacity. Ultimately, replacing the faulty battery resolved the issue.

Thanks! I haven't checked the voltage under load yet, but I will. When your i30 had this, were fuses the problem, or was it more involved?

Fuses were fine in my case. A weak battery couldn't supply enough power to the heating element. Test the battery's capacity with proper equipment. If the battery is good, check the wiring and the heating element. But a faulty battery is likely. A workshop visit is a good idea.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a mechanic, and the battery was the issue, like you thought. New battery and diagnosis cost 290€.

I had a similar problem on my Hyundai i30. Your symptoms suggest an electrical supply problem. Have you measured the battery voltage under load? A weak battery can cause the rear window heating to fail. Check the fuses and relays too.
