Mercedes B Klasse ABS Fault

My 2011 Mercedes B Klasse gasoline one is acting up The ABS light is constantly on, and it feels like I'm losing traction all the time, especially when it's wet The whole ABS system seems to have given up I took it to a guy who plugged in some diagnostic thingy, and he said it's probably a speed signal fault, something about the control unit being defective He's talking about 1000€ to fix it Has anyone else had this kind of transmission malfunction Is this speedometer issue really gonna cost me that much

Speed signal fault, huh Sounds familiar I had a similar issue with my B Klasse, though I can't remember the exact mileage at the time ABS light, traction control going nuts the whole shebang Did the diagnostic tool give you a specific code And was it related to the input speed sensor I'm just wondering if it's the same gremlin that haunted my ride

A specific code I honestly can't remember He just mumbled something about the control unit and the speed signal Input speed sensor sounds about right, though Is that a common thing on these Did you end up replacing the whole control unit, or was it something else

Yep, sounds like the same problem They told me the control unit was sending bad info, messing with the ABS and traction control I ended up biting the bullet and replacing the whole thing Cost me a pretty penny, too, so that 1000€ estimate might be in the ballpark Honestly, I'd take it to a trusted workshop for a second opinion, but be prepared for the worst Good luck

Thanks for the info It's good to know I'm not completely alone in this misery I took it to another mechanic, and they confirmed it was the ABS control unit They managed to source a refurbished one, which saved me a bit of money Still cost a chunk, but at least the ABS and traction control are working again Cheers for the heads-up
