Mini Countryman Fog Sensor Error

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2018 Mini Countryman (diesel) is throwing a fog sensor error. The air conditioning won't kick on, the spray nozzles are frozen solid even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating is MIA. The error memory points to a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone seen anything like this? It's driving me nuts!

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar electrical issue with my Renault a while back. The climate control went haywire, and the heated mirrors stopped working. Turns out, it was a faulty sensor connection. These car sensor things can be super sensitive. Have you checked the wiring and plug connection yourself? Sometimes, it's just a loose connection or corrosion. Before you do anything, disconnect the negative terminal on your battery to prevent electric shock. A multimeter can be used to check for continuity in the wires, continuity means the wire is complete and not broken.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'faulty sensor connection', do you mean you just had to clean it, or did you have to replace the connector itself? And where was the sensor located in your Renault? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm looking for on my Countryman.

In my case, I tried cleaning the connector, but it didn't solve the problem. Eventually, I had to replace the connector itself. It was corroded beyond saving. As for the location on the Renault, it was near the front bumper, close to the fog lights. Since your error message suggests a cable or plug issue, it's definitely worth checking those first. But honestly, if you're not comfortable with electrical work, it might be worth getting it checked out by a professional. Could save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

Update on my Mini Countryman fog sensor issue. Took it to the shop, and it was indeed a faulty connector, just like the error code suggested. 95€ later, and everything is working as it should! Thanks for the input; it gave me the confidence to pursue a simple fix first.
