Problem with windshield wipers and warning light in Renault VelSatis (2003, diesel) - possible relay fault
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Renault VelSatis owner is experiencing erratic windshield wiper behavior and a warning light error, suspecting a faulty relay as the cause. Another person with a similar issue in a different Renault model confirmed that a faulty relay was indeed the problem in their case. The suggested solution is to visit a garage for diagnosis and repair, as the issue could pose a safety risk if the wipers fail while driving.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. With 128252 km on the clock or since my last inspection, I had not observed this problem before. It occurs irregularly, sometimes the wipers work without problems and sometimes unfortunately not. Your experience is really helpful, it gives me hope that maybe it really is just a faulty relay. I will probably have to take it to the workshop. Thanks again, your help means a lot to me!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Yes, that does sound like a similar problem I had. It was always the relay for me as well with irregular failures. It seems to be a common problem with these older models. I would also advise you to take it to the garage as soon as possible. Sometimes it can even be dangerous if the windshield wipers suddenly fail while driving. But don't worry, it's usually fixed quickly. It's good that you mentioned the number of kilometers, this could help the workshop to narrow down the problem. Good luck with it and let us know how it turns out!

Hey, thanks for your input and advice again. That is very important information. Agreed, I will definitely go to the garage as soon as possible and give them the mileage information. I will definitely let you know after the workshop visit to let you know whether it was actually the relay or not. Thanks again for your support!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane (built in 2001, diesel). Like you, I have little experience with cars. So, I took my car to the nearest garage. After a few days in the garage and a payment of €375, the problem was solved. According to the people at the garage, the problem was a faulty relay, just as you suspected. To help you better, could you give some more information about your car? How long have you had the problem? Does it always occur or only sometimes? I hope this helps you!
