Seeking Suggestions and Experiences for Troubleshooting Faulty Rain-Light Sensor in 2005 Lexus LS Gasoline
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Lexus LS owner is experiencing issues with malfunctioning wipers, suspecting a faulty rain-light sensor. A similar problem was resolved by replacing a defective sensor pad, which had bubbles affecting its function. The suggested solution is to inspect the windscreen sensor for any bubbles or damage and consider replacing the sensor pad if necessary. If not mechanically inclined, visiting a local garage is recommended for a relatively simple and cost-effective fix.

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply. The version I have is the 2005 LS Lexus. I'm at 165703 km on the odometer, last service was a few months ago. Don't remember any bubble issues, but I'll check it out again. So, you sorted yours out by just replacing the sensor pad, right? That cost seems okay. Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, that's correct. Replacing the sensor pad did the trick for me. Since your model is the 2005 Lexus LS, your issue might be similar to what I experienced with my 2003 Lexus ES. Just give that windscreen sensor a good look-over. You're looking for any bubbles or damage to the gel pad. It's a relatively easy fix and, as you said, the cost isn't too outrageous. If you're not so mechanically inclined, don't worry. Your local garage should be able to handle this with no fuss. And fingers crossed, this might sort out your wonky wipers issue! Let me know how it pans out. Safe driving!

Cheers! I'll definitely do that and have a good look at the windscreen sensor. If I spot anything off, I'll dash off to the local garage right away. Hopefully, this wiper issue gets resolved quickly as it makes driving quite bothersome. I'll keep you posted on how this goes. Thanks again for your advice. Safe travels to you too!

Hey there! I've tinkered a bit with cars, so I'd call my expertise level 'low'. I dealt with a similar thing with my 2003 Lexus ES. Noticed bubbles were forming under the gel pad of the windscreen sensor. It affected the wipers' efficiency. Took it to my local workshop and they sorted it out for about 62€. They basically replaced the defective sensor pad. Mind sharing your model version? Might help me give some more precise advice. Cheers!
