Tarraco tire pressure ABS and steering issues
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Seat Tarraco experienced issues with the tire pressure warning light, ABS light, and steering problems. The initial concern was a persistent tire pressure warning despite inflating the tires correctly. This was accompanied by ABS alerts and steering difficulties, suggesting a more complex issue than a simple puncture. A defective tire valve was identified as the cause of a slow air leak, affecting the tire pressure and subsequently impacting the ABS and steering systems. Replacing the valve resolved the issues, restoring normal vehicle function.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I understand the connection between the systems now. I did check the tires visually, but didn't spot anything obvious like a nail. Is there a way to pinpoint which tire is losing pressure without special equipment? Could a defective valve cause such a slow pressure loss?

Yes, a defective valve can definitely cause a slow pressure loss. It's harder to detect visually than a punctured tire. Given the ABS and steering issues alongside the tire pressure warning, it's best to get it checked professionally. A workshop can perform a thorough inspection, including pressure testing the tires and valves, and diagnose any potential issues with the ABS or power steering systems. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to steering and braking.

Took the Tarraco to a local workshop. Turns out the valve in one of the tires was indeed defective, causing a slow air leak. They replaced the valve, checked all the tires for punctures, and re-inflated tires to the correct pressure. Steering is back to normal, ABS light is off, and no more shaking. Cost me 280€, but well worth it for the peace of mind. Thanks for the advice.

That's quite a combination of symptoms! The tire pressure warning light is often the first indicator of a problem, but the ABS light, steering wheel vibration, and increased steering effort point to something potentially more serious than just a punctured tire. A slow pressure loss could trigger TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) which illuminates the tire pressure warning. However, if the pressure is significantly low or the tires are unevenly inflated, it can affect the ABS and power steering systems, which rely on wheel speed sensors. Are you able to visually inspect all your tires for any obvious damage or foreign objects? Even a small nail or screw can cause a slow air leak.
