I found a scan tool to clear the VTG transfer case adaptations and cleared the ‘transfer case oil wear code’ P0054C6. Carly could not clear the codes (yet). LAUNCH X431 Elite V2.0 BBA Bi-Directional OBD2 Scanner for BMW Carly confirms the code has been cleared. Having the transfer case oil changed made a difference, but the code is tricky to reset.
Hello, Thank you for your experience. I am happy to pass this on to our developers.

You can reset the transfer case adaptation values by using a BMW scan tool. Here's a simple step-by-step guide: 1. Connect the scan tool to the OBD-II port under the dashboard. 2. Turn on the ignition but do not start the engine. 3. Select 'Control Units' on the scan tool. 4. Choose 'Chassis' then 'VTG'. 5. Select 'Adjustment' then 'Teach-in processes'. 6. Choose 'Reset adaptation values'. 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Remember, if you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it's best to have a professional mechanic handle it.

(Translated from English) Question: Which BMW sweeping tool would be suitable? Thanks

The BMW INPA/Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface OBDII OBD2 Car Diagnostic Tool Cable would be suitable for resetting the transfer case adaptation values. However, if you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it's best to have a professional mechanic handle it.

How do I reset the transfer case oil abrasion code after oil replacement? Seems that Carly software can not effectively reset this code. Others tell me that only dealer software cancdo this??

See my earlier post. You will need a different Scan tool to reset the transfer case adaptations. This will reset the mileage flag which sets off the code. The dealership is an expensive option, but I spent nearly as much on a correct scanner, but I have it now for future needs that may arise.

It's great to hear that you've found a solution, Raskell3. For those still struggling with this issue, it's important to remember that not all scan tools have the capability to reset the transfer case adaptations. If you're unable to do it yourself, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a professional mechanic or dealership to ensure it's done correctly. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any further questions.

Will the Carly connector cable work with the BMW software to do the Transfer Case Oil reset? Also, where do I find the BMW software?
