Seeking Advice on 2023 Seat Tarraco's Alarm System and Battery Issues

Hey there fellow car enthusiasts! I've run into a bit of a pickle with my gas-powered 2023 Seat Tarraco. It's been acting up lately, with the alarm system glitching out and a weaker than usual battery on start-up. I've got some inklings that it could be due to an issue with the anti-theft alarm system, but I'm not certain. Anyone else had this issue and managed to get it sorted out at your local workshop? I'm eager to hear any tips you might have or experiences with this problem! Cheers!

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Seat Tarraco is experiencing issues with a glitching alarm system and a weak battery on start-up. The problem might be linked to the anti-theft alarm system, as similar issues have been resolved by addressing this system. Additionally, the weak battery could be due to it nearing the end of its lifespan, typically around three to five years. The suggested solution is to have a mechanic check both the anti-theft alarm system and the battery, and possibly replace the battery if necessary.

Hey there! That sounds like a similar issue I had with my 2021 Seat Ateca. To be clear, I'm not a car expert by any means, but I do have some experience tinkering with stuff. I took my Ateca to my local workshop last winter when the anti-theft alarm system started acting wonky. Turned out it was coded to activate some kind of optical locking thing. Doesn't mean much to me, but the bloke at the shop seemed to know what he was doing. Anyway, it cost me about 45 Euro to sort out. After that, no more issues, so it might be worth asking your mechanic about something like this. Quick question - have you noticed any other peculiar behaviours on your Seat? Might help me give more accurate tips. Good luck!

Hey, appreciate the reply! Well, to be honest other than the alarm glitches and weak battery, there haven't been any other irregularities as such. My Tarraco has been running smooth overall with nearly 195919 km on the clock. Take care!

Hey again! With almost 200k km on your Tarraco, it sounds like you're really getting the best out of it! Based on what you're saying, and my own experience, I’m pretty convinced an anti-theft system glitch could be causing your woes. Now about that weak battery, it may or may not be related. Starting issues could be due to a low charge or a battery nearing the end of its lifespan. It’s common knowledge that car batteries tend to give in around their third to fifth year, so if your battery falls into that timeline, it might be wise to consider a replacement. So here's what I think: take it in for a check. Ask your mechanic to delve into the anti-theft alarm system, and also get that battery tested. And hey, it never hurts to give the whole vehicle a once-over while you're there! I bet you'll get to the bottom of it in no time. Good luck!

You're a lifesaver! Your advice makes complete sense to me. The Tarraco is indeed around that four-year mark, so perhaps it might be time for a new battery. And I'll definitely have a chat with my mechanic regarding the anti-theft alarm system. Much appreciated and I'll definitely update you on how it goes. Cheers!
